Google Business Profile Postcard Verification Failed — How to Fix It
If postcard verification failed — the card never showed up, the code was rejected, expired, or Get verified appeared again after you entered a code — stop requesting new cards on a loop.
Free case review · USA, UK & Canada · Google decides every verification outcome
Google’s Help documents verification through mail / postcard when that method is offered for your profile: you request a code, wait for delivery (Help tip: most codes arrive within 14 days), then enter a 5-digit code. While you wait, Help says do not edit your business name, address, or category (that can invalidate the mailed code), and do not request a new code unless you accept that the previous mailed code is invalidated. Codes expire after 30 days. Verification methods are automatically determined by Google and can’t be forced; postcard isn’t available for every business.
GBP Fixers helps owners in the USA, UK, and Canada diagnose mail vs video vs phone/email paths and prepare the next attempt. Google alone decides every verification outcome and its timing — no agency can promise approval.

Postcard vs other verification methods
| What you’re dealing with | Likely bucket | First move |
|---|---|---|
| Waiting on a mailed card / “didn’t arrive” | Mail / postcard method | Confirm address; wait Help window; don’t edit NAP/category; don’t spam new requests |
| Code rejected, expired, or edited listing mid-wait | Postcard failure mode | Fix listing consistency; request only when ready; enter code carefully |
| Video “Review issues” / Not successful | Video method | Use the video verification failed guide before another upload |
| Phone / SMS code issues | Phone method | Use the phone verification failed guide — IVR, missed call, Get verified loops |
| “Get verified” button returned | Incomplete verification (Help) | Retry available methods; fix business info first |
| Profile suspended / appeal statuses | Enforcement, not postcard | Use the suspended hub or Not Approved status page |
This page owns postcard / mail failure language. The parent verification failed hub covers all methods; the video verification failed page owns video-only deep intent. If the profile is in enforcement, see suspended · Not Approved.
What to stop doing immediately
✕ Don’t keep requesting new postcards daily
Help warns a new request invalidates the code already in the mail and lengthens the process.
✕ Don’t edit name, address, or category while a postcard is in transit
Those edits can make the mailed code fail when you finally enter it.
✕ Don’t share the 5-digit code
Help: Google will never ask for it. Don’t give it to anyone, including people who “manage” the profile for you.
✕ Don’t invent a second listing to “verify cleaner”
A second pin while the first is mid-verification or under review often complicates recovery.
✕ Don’t force postcard if Google only offers video/phone/email
Methods are assigned by Google and can’t be forced.
✕ Don’t pay anyone who guarantees instant verification
Google decides; agencies help with prep and triage.
Step-by-step: what to do next
Confirm the method and the clock
Screenshot the verification screen (Postcard vs Video vs Phone/Email). Note the request date. Help tip: most mail codes arrive within 14 days; codes expire after 30 days.
Freeze risky edits
Until the code is entered successfully, avoid changing business name, address, or primary category on the profile you’re verifying.
Confirm the mailing address is real and reachable
Mail verification confirms the business is at the listed address. Virtual mailboxes, wrong suite numbers, and SAB setups that shouldn’t show a public storefront address need a careful rethink — sometimes the better path is a different offered method or SAB recovery guidance, not another postcard to an address customers never visit.
Enter the code once, carefully
When the card arrives: Business Profile → enter the 5-digit code → Submit. Keep the code secure.
If “Get verified” returns
Help: that means Google couldn’t completely verify. Fix inaccurate details, then try again with the methods Google still offers. If video is available and appropriate, prefer Help’s video guidance — and if video already failed, use the video verification failed guide before another upload.
After verification, wait for review
Help: after verification steps, Google may take up to 5 business days (sometimes longer) to finish review. Instant verification can happen in specific cases Google documents (e.g. certain Search Console / bulk paths) — don’t assume yours is instant.

Service-area businesses (SABs) and postcard
Mobile trades often struggle because postcard assumes a reachable business mailing address. If you are a true service-area business, showing the wrong public address (home, coworking, or virtual office) can create verification and enforcement problems later. Pair this page with SAB recovery and industry hubs such as landscaping and cleaning and water damage and painters. Also see Help — verification.
