Houston GMB help: the profile, TDLR, and the cities around Harris County
"GMB" (Google My Business) is the old name for Google Business Profile. Google Business Profile is what used to be called Google My Business. A Houston search is about a listing for a business based in the city, not a separate Google product for Texas. The City of Houston and Harris County each publish their own sites. Those sites are where city and county information lives. They are not where a suspended profile is appealed. The appeal path we use is described on suspension recovery. Google decides the outcome.
For occupations the state licenses through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the public lookup is the TDLR license search. The page is the department's own search for licenses it issues. Use it when a Houston profile names a licensed trade and you need the state record to match the business name. TDLR does not edit Google listings. If the profile is suspended, the license record is one document you may be asked to show. It is not a reinstatement by itself.
Many Houston businesses visit customers instead of receiving them at a shop. Google's address help says to hide the address only when you are a service-area business, and that a hidden address leaves the service area on the profile. Service areas are cities, postal codes, or other areas, up to 20. You cannot draw a radius. Municipal sites for places people drive to from Houston include Sugar Land and Pasadena. Add a city only if you serve it. Google's signup guidance says one profile for the metropolitan area you serve, and that extra profiles for the same business in that area can get the account suspended.
If the Houston listing is already suspended, do not open a second profile to replace it while the appeal is open. Call (855) 939-4111, Monday–Friday 8am–8pm EST, and we will look at the status you can see. We cannot promise the listing comes back.
