Google Business Profile Duplicate Listing — How to Fix It
If Google treated your Business Profile as a duplicate listing, your pin can disappear from Search and Maps even when you still see something in the dashboard. Help is blunt: you can have only one Business Profile for each business.
Free case review · No commitment · USA, UK & Canada
Multiple profiles for the same business can mislead customers and violate policy — and a profile marked as a duplicate won’t show on Google Search or Maps. GBP Fixers helps owners in the USA, UK, and Canada triage true duplicates vs ownership conflicts vs suspension vs “Maps disappeared for another reason.” Google alone decides merges, duplicate status, and reinstatement timing — no agency can promise a specific outcome.

Duplicate vs lookalike problems (triage)
This page owns duplicate listing / one profile per business / merge language. Ownership recovery and Maps disappearance diagnosis stay on their hubs.
| What you’re seeing | Likely bucket | First move |
|---|---|---|
| Profile marked duplicate / won’t show on Maps or Search | Duplicate status (Help) | Confirm one real business; don’t create a third listing; follow Help merge / remove / appeal paths |
| Someone else owns the only verified profile | Ownership conflict | Ownership hijacked · request ownership (Help: current owner has 3 days to respond) |
| Pin gone but status is suspended / disabled | Enforcement | Suspended · Disabled |
| Listing “disappeared” with mixed causes | Diagnosis hub | Google Maps listing recovery |
| You created a second listing after a suspension | Duplicate + enforcement risk | Stop. Fix and appeal the original — don’t replace it |
| Two eligible businesses at one address | Shared address / signage | Help: distinct names + clearly visible signage differences; may need evidence of permanent signage |
What to stop doing immediately
✕ Don’t create another Business Profile
Replacing a suspended, disabled, or duplicate-flagged listing often creates a second policy problem.
✕ Don’t create separate profiles for each service
Help: list services on one profile instead.
✕ Don’t create a new profile when you move
Help: update the existing address instead.
✕ Don’t merge or delete blindly
Confirm which profile is the established, accurate one before you remove anything. Help: removing a duplicate removes its content and linked managers.
✕ Don’t pay anyone who guarantees a merge
No “instant dual listing fix.” Google reviews merge requests.
✕ Don’t ignore ownership
If the only verified profile is owned by someone else, that’s an ownership path — not a “make a clean second listing” path.
Step-by-step: what to do next
Step 1 — Screenshot everything
Capture dashboard status text, Maps URLs for every pin that looks like your business, and any “duplicate” / ownership notices. Exact wording beats forum folklore.
Step 2 — Inventory every listing that represents the same business
Same legal name / DBA, same primary phone, same website, same address (or same SAB base). Note which one is verified and which has the reviews you care about.
Step 3 — Match Help’s “why duplicates” buckets
Help lists common reasons: an existing verified profile already exists; same address across profiles; different services split into multiple profiles for one business. Name-field stuffing can also create overlapping identities — see name guidelines.
Step 4 — If you created the duplicate by mistake
Help: remove the duplicate from your Google Account without affecting the verified listing — and make sure you remove the correct profile.
Step 5 — If two same-business profiles exist on Maps
Help: request a merge by reporting a suggestion on Google Maps. Merges are subject to review. When profiles merge, reviews are combined, but replies to reviews may be lost. Profiles should represent the same business and have matching info for a successful merge.
Step 6 — If two distinct eligible businesses share an address
Help: they may each have a profile if they are distinct businesses with different names and clearly visible differences in signage, and both are eligible. If incorrectly merged / marked duplicate, Help describes appealing duplicate status with evidence (including permanent signage when both serve customers at the same location).
Step 7 — If someone else owns the verified profile
Use the ownership request path (Help: owner has 3 days to respond — Approved / Denied / no response may unlock claim options). See ownership hijacked.
Step 8 — Get a second set of eyes when stuck
Mixed duplicate + suspension + ownership symptoms? Call (855) 939-4111 or free case review. Flat-fee plans: pricing — terms in writing. Google still decides. High-scrutiny trades such as water damage restoration and painters often collide with duplicate + SAB issues together.
