Answer first: if several of your Google Business Profile locations disappeared from Maps at once, start by diagnosing whether Google restricted the managing account, suspended individual listings, or suppressed duplicates — those are different paths. GBP Fixers observation: multi-location groups and DSOs get into trouble when shared phones, corporate names that do not match local fascia, leftover agency ownership, or extra pins per suburb look like spam networks. GBP Fixers helps inventory every location and prepare guideline-aligned appeals; Google alone decides whether and when profiles are restored.

This page is the cross-industry decision hub (DSO, medical groups, franchises, retail chains, multi-office firms). Industry depth stays on dentists, doctors, and medical clinics. Duplicate, ownership, and single-listing enforcement stay on their hubs — this page links them, it does not replace them.

Why one suspended pin can take down a whole group

Operators call it a “cascade” when several Maps pins vanish in the same week. Google does not publish a product named cascade. What you are seeing is one of three layers — or a mix.

Google policy (Help): Fix suspended or disabled profiles states that an account restriction suspends the Business Profiles you manage and you will not be able to create or claim other profiles. Lift the account restriction on the My accounts page first; then appeal remaining profile suspensions. The same article documents what happens when an owner’s Google Account is removed: all locations owned by that user are removed, and if the account is reinstated the owned locations are reinstated with it. That is account-layer, not “one bad pin infected the others” as a separate Google rule.

GBP Fixers observation (not a measured rate): a group can also look like a cascade when Google treats overlapping pins as duplicates — associate or practitioner titles at one suite, a rebrand pin beside the historic listing, or a suburb pin farm. Those are suppression / merge problems. They are not the same packet as an account restriction. Per-listing severity (dashboard still open vs Maps gone) belongs on soft vs hard suspension.

Multi-location eligibility rules in plain language

Google policy (Help): Guidelines for representing your business on Google are blunt: do not create more than one page for each location of your business, either in a single account or multiple accounts. Create the profile for the actual, real-world location. Virtual offices are not eligible. Co-working is eligible only with clear signage, customer reception during hours, and your staff on site.

  • 1 One profile per eligible staffed address. Customers must be able to visit during the hours on the profile. A marketing suburb, a MyChart region, or an ad-group city is not a location.
  • 2 Departments and practitioners are separate Help objects. Publicly facing departments that operate as distinct entities may have their own page, with a different name and a different most-representative category. Individual practitioners (doctors, dentists, lawyers, and similar public-facing professionals) may have a dedicated profile when Help’s practitioner tests apply — named as the person, not as “Brand + Specialty” at the same suite. Sales associates and lead-generation agents are not eligible practitioners.
  • 3 Chains: same name, same primary category, unless the real world differs. All locations in a country must share the name unless the storefront, website, or stationery consistently uses a different name. Sub-brands may use a distinct name when it is applied consistently. Do not combine two brands into one title (“KFC / Taco Bell”).
  • 4 Phone and website represent that location. Help: provide a phone number that connects to your individual business location; use a local number instead of a central call-centre helpline whenever possible; the number must be under the direct control of the business; do not provide numbers that redirect callers to a different landing line.
  • 5 Service-area businesses are a different model. One SAB profile for the staffed base, not a pin per city. If you have different locations with separate staff and separate service areas, Help allows one profile per those locations. Hide-address and radius rules live on service-area guidelines.

Name-field stuffing on a chain pin: name guidelines. Category sprawl: category guidelines.

DSO and dental-group risk patterns

A dental support organisation or group practice is not a van fleet. Each staffed clinic is a location. This hub covers the group mechanics. Clinic video without PHI, DDS/DMD on practitioner vs clinic titles, and waiting-room walkthroughs stay on the dentists hub — do not treat this page as a second dental industry article.

GBP Fixers observation: a recurring pattern we have observed in multi-clinic dental work is four stories that do not match: the holding-company legal name, the local fascia, the central booking number, and the Google Account that still holds Owner (agency or DSO IT). Help does not rank those as “the DSO rule.” Help does require one profile per eligible location, chain-consistent names, and a phone that connects to that location.

Shared 1-800 / central booking

Help prefers a local line under the location’s control over a call-centre helpline. A booking number that also sits on other Maps pins is a reuse risk — not a Google “DSO ban.”

Holding company vs local fascia

Chain name rules follow the door patients see. If every clinic says “Bright Smiles” on vinyl and the pin says the parent LLC, that is a live-field mismatch to fix before the next appeal.

Associate / practitioner pin farms

Help allows public-facing dentists their own profiles named as the person. Pins titled “Clinic + Invisalign + City” at the same suite are the collision. Inventory before you merge or appeal. See duplicate listing.

Agency or DSO IT still Owner

Third-party Help: the end customer retains ownership or co-ownership; the vendor should be Manager after setup. Request access — see ownership hijacked — instead of publishing a “clean” clinic.

Medical group, urgent care, and health-system risk patterns

A medical group, urgent-care chain, or health system is not a dental DSO clone and not a law firm’s multi-office pin set. Each staffed, patient-accessible clinic is a location. Physician naming, HIPAA-is-not-a-Google-heading video notes, and practitioner vs clinic titles stay on the doctors hub and medical clinics page.

  • Clinic vs physician pins: one location profile for the practice; separate practitioner profiles only for public-facing physicians who can be reached at that suite during stated hours — named as the person, not “System + Cardiology.”
  • MyChart / central scheduling reuse: Help asks for a phone that connects to that location. A system-wide scheduling number that also appears on other Maps pins is a Help-shaped reuse risk. Prefer a line that rings this clinic when you have one.
  • Campus suite mismatches: building, wing, and Address Line 2 have to match the directory and the walk patients take. The main hospital lobby is not evidence for a third-floor specialty clinic.
  • Ineligible “clinics”: a registered-agent suite, an exam room used two days a month, or a physician’s home used only for telehealth is not an eligible storefront. Help: virtual offices are ineligible.

Franchise and retail chain risks (bulk verification angle)

Google policy (Help): Bulk location management is written for businesses with 10 or more locations: create a business group, put every location in a spreadsheet, upload, fix errors, then request bulk verification. Profiles must meet the quality guidelines to appear on Maps and Search.

Verify Business Profiles in bulk adds eligibility gates — described here as Help-shaped options when offered, not a GBP Fixers SLA:

  • The spreadsheet has 10 or more profiles from the same business. Agencies with more than one business in one account cannot bulk verify.
  • Duplicate, suspended, or disabled profiles do not count toward the 10-profile minimum. Include every profile you manage — Help says it needs evidence of the size of the business. You may be asked for evidence if chain size differs from the number of profiles in the account.
  • Service-area businesses are not on this bulk-verify path. If the Verifications tab is missing, Help says you might not have enough eligible profiles — verify individually instead.
  • Stay verified: Help states Google may de-verify accounts that do not actively manage their profiles, and may revoke bulk verification if an account abuses the path and does not comply with the guidelines. Those are Google’s actions. Google decides bulk outcomes. This page does not invent a de-verification rate or a restore window.

Observation: franchise field marketing that dumps extra city pins, shared franchisee call-centre numbers, or a corporate name that does not match local fascia is the same Help mismatch as a DSO — applied to retail and QSR. Fix live fields and group hygiene before another bulk request.

Inventory-first recovery process (before any appeal)

Do not file ten identical appeals from a half-known dashboard. List every pin, fix live fields on the affected profiles, match per-location evidence, then choose a single vs bulk appeal path when Help offers it.

  • Every Profile ID and Maps URL

List the dashboard Profile ID, the public Maps URL, and the live status for each site — including pins you no longer manage. Help’s bulk-appeal path (when offered) asks for a Business Profile ID per row.

  • Owner and Manager on each pin

Note which Google Account is Owner vs Manager. Agency or DSO IT leftover Owner is an access problem, not a reason to create a clean listing. See ownership hijacked.

  • Fascia name vs legal / holding-company name

Help’s chain rules expect the same name across locations in a country unless the real-world storefront consistently differs. Corporate parent ≠ local fascia is a live-field mismatch to fix before you appeal.

  • Phone that rings that location

Help asks for a number that connects to the individual business location, under the business’s direct control, and prefers a local line over a central call-centre helpline when possible. Shared 1-800 / MyChart / franchise booking lines that also sit on other Maps pins are a Help-shaped reuse risk.

  • Address Line 2 (suite / unit) and staffed hours

Campus clinics, mall units, and medical-building suites need Line 2 to match the directory and the walk a customer takes. An empty satellite desk is not an eligible storefront.

  • Practitioner, department, and suburb pins at the same address

Help allows separate pages for eligible departments and public-facing practitioners. Marketing suburbs and “City + Specialty” titles at one suite are not extra locations. Inventory them before you file.

Single vs bulk appeal (Help language only)

For a handful of listings, use the Appeals Tool per profile after live fields match. Evidence examples on Fix suspended or disabled profiles include official registration, a business licence, tax certificates, and utility bills, with name and address matching the profile. If you open the evidence form, Help says you must submit it within 60 minutes.

For more than 10 Business Profiles, the same Help article and Appeal Business Profile content & profile restrictions describe this option when the tool offers it: select one profile, submit the appeal, then when asked if the appeal is for more than 10 profiles, choose Yes and attach a spreadsheet that includes the evidence and Business Profile ID for each profile. Tip from Help: in the Appeals Tool, the status will only change for the profile you selected; you will receive one email decision for that selected profile. Eligibility is Google’s. This is not a GBP Fixers bulk queue and not a promised restore window.

Mistakes that make multi-location cases harder

Don’t create “clean” replacement pins while appeals are open

Help for suspended or disabled profiles says not to create a new Business Profile for the same business while an appeal is under review. A second pin is a duplicate listing problem stacked on the first.

Don’t clone one zip of evidence across every site

Name and address on documents must match the profile you are appealing. One corporate pack reused for every suite is a mismatch. Location-specific matching files still apply if Help later offers a bulk spreadsheet.

Don’t edit NAP mid-review without a plan

Core-field edits (name, address, phone, category) during an open review can create a new mismatch. Align live fields to the real fascia first, then leave them stable unless Google asked for a specific correction.

Don’t leave an ex-agency or DSO IT account as the only Owner

Google’s third-party policies say end customers must retain ownership or co-ownership, and agencies should be Manager after setup. A vendor-held Owner login is an access path, not a new pin.

Don’t invent a pin per marketing suburb or ad city

Help: do not create more than one page for each location of your business, in a single account or multiple accounts. Eligible staffed addresses are locations. Ad-group suburbs are not.

Don’t treat bulk spreadsheet access as a GBP Fixers queue

Help describes a more-than-10-profiles option when the Appeals Tool offers it — spreadsheet mapping of Business Profile IDs to evidence. Eligibility, availability, and outcomes are Google’s. There is no private bulk SLA.

When to get a free multi-location case review

DIY is enough when you can name the layer (account vs listing vs duplicate), you have a complete pin inventory, live fields already match fascia and local phones, and the Appeals Tool still shows an open path. Get a specialist review when several locations vanished together, a corporate Google Account is restricted, an ex-agency still holds Owner, or a prior bulk packet was already Not Approved. GBP Fixers reviews cases for USA, UK, and Canada owners. We prepare inventory and matching evidence. We do not override Google.

Google Partner refers to Google Ads partnership. It does not mean preferential treatment, priority review, or special access for Google Business Profile suspension or reinstatement.

  • You cannot tell whether this is an account restriction, a listing suspension, or a duplicate / practitioner cluster.
  • Ten or more locations are in play and you are unsure whether Help’s more-than-10 spreadsheet option even applies.
  • A DSO, medical group, franchise, or multi-office firm rebranded and now two pins sit at the same door.
  • Shared booking numbers, holding-company names, or leftover vendor Owner logins have not been inventoried.
  • A prior Help Center or DIY appeal already came back Not Approved or Can’t be appealed.

When isn’t Google’s DIY path enough for a multi-location group?

This is for DSO ops, franchise field marketing, health-system admins, and multi-office owners whose several locations vanished together — or whose corporate Google Account is restricted — and who are about to create replacement pins or clone one evidence zip across every site.

Google alone decides every appeal and reinstatement outcome and timing. Specialists help with diagnosis, matching evidence, and the correct process when Help Center / DIY steps stall — they do not override Google or promise a result.

Multi-location and DSO Google Business Profile — FAQ

Why did several of our clinic Google listings go down at once? +
Start by diagnosing the layer. Google’s Fix suspended or disabled profiles Help states that an account restriction suspends the Business Profiles you manage and blocks creating or claiming other profiles — so every pin on that Google Account can go dark together. Separate patterns: shared phone or name issues across pins, or duplicate / practitioner conflicts at one suite. Inventory every location and check whether the account is restricted before appealing each listing. Google decides outcomes. See account restricted.
Does a DSO need one Google Business Profile or one per office? +
Generally one profile per eligible staffed clinic address — not one brand-wide pin and not one pin per ad suburb. Help’s representation guidelines say not to create more than one page for each location, and chain rules expect the same name across locations in a country unless the real-world fascia consistently differs. Match fascia name and a phone that connects to that location when possible. Dental-specific naming and clinic video: dentists hub.
Can we submit one appeal for all suspended locations? +
Google’s Help for suspended or disabled profiles and appealing profile restrictions describes a bulk option in some multi-profile situations: after you submit an appeal, you may be asked if it is for more than 10 profiles; if yes, attach a spreadsheet with evidence and the Business Profile ID for each profile. Eligibility and availability are Google’s. Help also notes that the Appeals Tool status and email update only for the profile you selected. Do not invent a private bulk queue. Prepare location-specific matching documents either way.
Should we create new listings for locations that disappeared from Maps? +
No while appeals or reviews are open. Help says not to create a new Business Profile for the same business while an appeal is under review. A replacement pin is a duplicate problem stacked on the original. Work the original profiles and ownership paths first. See duplicate listing.
Our corporate Google account was restricted — what first? +
Appeal or remediate the account restriction on Google’s account path first, then address individual profile suspensions. Help states that when the managing account is restricted, the profiles it manages are suspended as a consequence, and you cannot create or claim other profiles until that layer is lifted. Listing appeals alone may not restore access if the account remains restricted. See account restricted.
How is this different from the dentists or doctors industry pages? +
Those pages go deep on healthcare naming, video without PHI, and practitioner pins. This hub covers cross-industry multi-location mechanics — inventory, account cascade, shared phones, bulk verification, and bulk-appeal hygiene — for DSOs, medical groups, franchises, retail chains, and multi-office professional firms. Industry depth: dentists · doctors · medical clinics · law firms.
Will GBP Fixers guarantee a multi-location restore or a faster bulk appeal as a Google Partner? +
No. No agency can. Google alone decides outcomes and timing. Google Partner status is a Google Ads partnership — it is not a Business Profile privilege, a private Help queue, or a faster restore. We help inventory pins and prepare guideline-aligned appeals. We do not invent win rates or day-count promises on this page.
How do I get a free multi-location case review? +
Submit a free case review at /free-audit/ or call (855) 939-4111. Include a spreadsheet or list of every Profile ID, Owner/Manager, phone, and fascia name, plus screenshots of account vs listing status. USA, UK, and Canada. Google decides every outcome.
